Wagner Architects and
Planners is an architectural and planning office located in Seattle's Pike Place Market. The office
offers a full range of architectural and planning services, from initial programming,
master planning, and impact analysis, through detailed design and
construction administration. Most of our work is for small and medium sized
cities and most clients have continued to use us for several projects.
APPROACH TO DESIGN
PROCESS
We begin with the idea that each client, each site, each set of requirements,
and each project is unique. If you look at the projects we have
designed, even similar types of buildings are tailored to the unique needs of
each client.
We recommend an approach to planning and design that involves frequent
opportunities for our clients to provide input and to review our work.
If you go to the public facilities we have designed, you will find that
most of the staff know us by name, and they felt
comfortable making suggestions and offering critiques of the work we
did. We work at making them a part of the process, and in soliciting
their frank opinions.
APPROACH TO DESIGN
Our approach to design begins with our client’s goals. For public
facilities function is generally paramount.
For private projects aesthetics and personal taste are often most
important.
We emphasize environmental design. We use natural light to minimize
reliance on electrical lights. We use operable windows to minimize
reliance on air conditioning. We try to minimize the use of fresh
water, and we try to use storm water for irrigation and other non-potable
needs. We use recycled and renewable materials, without compromising
cost or durability.
We select materials and design the smallest details with longevity in
mind. We want facilities to last, with a minimum of maintenance.
Our oldest facility still looks new.
We design the look and feel
of each building to match each client’s unique needs, budget, site, and
aesthetic expectations.
